Manny Delcarmen plays his first game for the Boston Red Sox in Florida.
July 26, 2005
The Red Sox beat the Tampa Bay Devil Rays 10-9, as pitcher Delcarmen, who grew up in Jamaica Plain and Hyde Park, and graduated from West Roxbury High School, strikes out the first man he faces and pitches a 1-2-3 eighth inning. He is the first Boston-born and raised player to play for the Red Sox since Eddie Pellegrini in 1946. Delcarmen is traded to the Colorado Rockies on August 31, 2010.
